How it started:
As a child, our family spent time in Tobago; it just happened to be on the beach at a thoroughbred
breeding facility. At four, I was smitten (and bitten by a yearling, which my father called the bite of love) and there was
no turning back. At home in Trinidad, my father, who also loved horses, thought it was a good idea to stop by the track on
the way to school. Why? To see his horse "Bluegrass" as she trained at the track, of course. Being a preteen and standing
at the track watching the horses breeze, I was drunk with equine delirium. I started to ride when I was thirteen after years
of pleading. Rosslyn Carr, a British Horse Society Instructor, and Patrice Stollmeyer taught a small handful of us sport
horse enthusiasts through grade 4 of the BHS ranks with the very racehorses off the track. My life decisions have followed
my passion ever since.
At the University of Florida, I showed on the intercollegiate Florida Equestrian Team for three years and was secretary
of the club for a year. After college, I moved to Maryland and worked with Kathy Harjess and Eric Herbermann at Equilibrium
Horse Center. I also worked at Good News Farm in Boyds, Maryland under Caroline Jordan. Cello, my dressage horse, is by
her Holsteiner stallion Cottage Boy. I moved to Los Angeles in the mid nineties with Cello and harvested a successful career
in film production. There I had the fortune to successfully compete through training level Eventing in Area VI under Robyn
Fisher and Jennifer Johnson and 1st level dressage with Cory Walkey. Upon moving back to Maryland in 2005, I once again
got a leg up in the horse industry managing Caves Farm. I now train at Arrowhead Farm and at Wyndham Oaks in Boyds, Maryland,
a beautiful dressage and eventing facility with exemplary horse care and training.
Vision:
I believe that goals are attainable; the challenge is to define them. Being committed to one of
the most exciting sports in the world, eventing, and after riding with many prominent equestrians and established eventers,
I can attest to the wealth of knowledge available to enhance daily routines. My main aim is to do a 1* with Told You So,
my current project horse. My intention is to move up through the levels to international competition.
At home, I work on the flat with Jaralyn Finn. I also train with Kim Severson and Boyd Martin over fences and cross country.
It has unfolded into a wonderful journey.

GOALS:
Knowing full well that when working with horses, goals can be elusive with the many parameters involved. However, here
is a list of goals to which I am working:
2010
To bring students along to achieve their goals
To bring out the best in the horses I train
Move Tex up to Preliminary
Compete at USDF 3rd Level
Earn USDF Bronze Medal status
Attain ICP credentials at workshops
Achieve ICP Certification
Start my own barn and training program
Work with international level competitors and trainers
Create a niche for the Trinidad Equestrian Team
Compete at least once a month in the Spring and Fall Season
I am happy to say that several of these goals have been realized. There is so much power in writing things down!
