NBC:

In 2004, five million people tuned in to watch the Rolex Kentucky Three Day event; a 90-minute pre-Olympic special covering the CCI**** , the highest level of the Event, which aired on Sunday, May 2, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EST on the NBC Television Network. Titled the Rolex Equestrian Championship, the program was a first for the sport of Eventing on national network television. This year, NBC has agreed to televise the Event once again on Sunday, May 8, 2005 from 4:00PM to 5:00PM. NBC also televised full coverage of the Olympic Equestrian Events in Athens in 2004 and will air the Budweiser Show Jumping World Cup, taking place on April 20 - 24, 2005 in Las Vegas, NV on Sunday, May 8, 2005 from 5:00PM to 6:00PM.

Now in it's fourth year of providing equestrian and horse-related television broadcasting, Horse TV airs an array of event, show and documentary programming. Launched in January 2001, Horse TV is currently part of regular programming on local television stations in almost 100 cities. Many international competitions never before available on U.S. television have been aired. Eventing star Pippa Funnel from Great Britain was featured winning the 'Grand Slam' of eventing; a $250,000 challenge sponsored by Rolex for winning all three Horse Trials of Badminton, Burghley and Rolex Kentucky in a single year in 2003. FEI Show Jumping and Dressage World Cups and the Samsung Nations Cup were aired for the viewing pleasure of horse enthusiasts throughout the U.S.

OLN:

Outdoor Life Network programs several horse events including the 2005 American Grand Prix Association Tour (with prize money totalling $2.5 million).

RFD TV:

Rural and Farm Network airs several different educational programs including the Dressage Connection by Dressage Unlimited along with High School Rodeo Series, John Lyons: Training from the Heart and Parelli Natural Horsemanship.

Horse TV

Internet

As the sport moves into the media giants of national TV and Internet Promotion, viable sponsorship opportunites arise. All major events are represented on the world wide web and promote their events and sponsors. Major equestrian athletes are highlighted for the draw of spectators that they attract. As a rider becomes more popular, they are featured on countless equestrian magazines and websites as their recognition grows.

Interactive websites can bring play by play coverage of major events as well. This year, the cross country phase of Badminton Horse Trials was available worldwide on BBC interactive. The Equestrian Channel is developing ideas on bringing major events to your computer screen.
