4* EVENTS 2005

The most challenging of all horse trials, Four Star events represent the pinnacle of the sport for both horse and rider.  There are only four events at this level in the world and only one of them is held in The United States; The Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event.   Both horse and rider travel to Europe to compete against the world's best; here's the coveted list, complete with results and, on occasion, commentary.

William Fox Pitt wins Burghley on Ballincoola! The pair hung onto to the lead with a score of 50.4 and dominated the field to win the 2005 Burghley 4* Event and a purse of 40,000 pounds. Second place was awarded to Australian Phillip Dutton and The Foreman, who put in a superb clear round in the show jumping phase. There were only three double clear performances witnessed on stadium day and Phillip secured his second place with flair. Australia prevailed again in the third spot with Andrew Nicholson and Lord Killinghurst. Andrew relinquished his second place after cross country after dropping three rails in show jumping. Both Kim Severson and Winsome Adante and Buck Davison on Private Treaty did not finish the cross country phase of the event. Click below to get results.

The American Eventing Championships will take place at the Carolina Horse Park on the 14th to the 18th of September, 2005.

Robert Dover offered wonderful support and advice on Tuesday September 13 and Wednesday September 14, 2005 for advanced eventers including Karen O'Connor and Stephen Bradley. The generosity was extended to an auditing audience, who greatly appreciated the vast wealth of dressage that was imparted.

Competitiors at all levels of eventing, novice through advanced will be competing for the coveted title of National Champion of their level. Competitors come from all over the country and the event has attracted amateurs and former Olympians alike.
