Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event CIC****

April 28 - May 1, 2006

NBC Television schedule

The time for the broadcast of the "Rolex Equestrian Championship," the hour-long special on the 2006 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, has been changed..

2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. EST, Sunday, May 7.

The Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event (RK3DE aka 'Rolex') is a one of its kind in the Americas and one of only five four-star events in the world. Starting in 1981, the event has grown in stature and magnitude and attracts the most prolific stars in eventing. Not to mention the 70,000 + spectators from around the world, who pilgrimmage to Lexington, KY and the Kentucky Horse Park to witness Olympic caliber sport on the last weekend in April each year.

This year, Australian Andrew Hoy took top honors on Master Monarch (53.1) and may well be on his way to achieve the prestigious Grand Slam Title. Second place was awarded the highest placed American pair, Heidi White and Northern Spy (57.4). Brandenburg's Joshua and Stephen Bradley claimed third (59.7). Not surprisingly, Phillip Dutton and Connaught clinched fourth and another top five spot for Australia with a hair'sbreadth score of 59.8. Will Faudree proved again that he and his wonderful horse Antigua are international caliber talent with a sixth place on a score of 60.2. Polly Stockton of Great britain were the first from Europe to place on a score of 61.2 and seventh. Nathalie Bouckaert Pollard ad West Farthing placed eigth with an even 63.0. Andrew Hoy again showed his determination to sweep top honors and earned ninth place on Yeoman's Point (63.8). Olympian John Williams and Sloopy also ended on 63.8 to give us the last of our top ten finishers.

GALWAY DOWNS INTERNATIONAL HORSE TRIALS
CIC *** World Cup Qualifier, CIC **
March 31 - April 2, 2006

Robyn Fisher, 26, of West Hills, CA clinches wins in both the CIC***(W)and the CCI** in one fell swoop. Robyn and her advanced partner, Le Samurai, led after the CIC*** dressage by over 20 points, leaving her a convincing lead over Jennifer Wooten, 28, Buellton, CA and The Good Witch. The gap narrowed after cross country with near 24 time faults given to Fisher qand her horse. The show jumping phase proved the deciding factor; a clear round with 3 time faults for Robyn and Le Samurai earned them the 1st place spot with a score of 75.6. Jennifer and The Good Witch came in second with a downed rail in show jumping, ending on a score of 78.8. Lauren Whitlock (21, Rohnert Park, CA) and her 13 year-old Thoroughbred gelding, Kipling, came in third on a score of 78.7.

For a follow up, Robyn rode Lady Calido, her intermediate mare, to win the CIC** and ending on their dressage score of 53.8.

The Red Hills Horse Trials

The Red Hills Horse Trials epitomize the world class event. This weekend (March 10 -12, 2006), the Red Hills Horse Trials held at the Elinor Klark-Phipps Park in Tallahassee, Florida provided an unrivalled experience for the some forty thousand spectators that flocked to see Olympic medallists and the best from eight countries perform. The magnificence of equestrian sport combined with community involvement from neighborhood vendors ensured a balance of entertainment for all those who attended. Young and old came to see horses and riders compete in the World Cup Qualifying event, which takes place in Malmo, Sweden in September, 2006.

In the CIC ***, Phillip Dutton and The Foreman cemented their 2005 USEA Standings by claiming first place with a score of 62 over Olympic Gold Medallist Leslie Law and Shear L'Eau and Olympic medallist Darren Chiaccia and Windfall II. Jonathan Holling on Lion King ll achieved the same feat and a second in the World Cup Qualifier with a brilliant cross country and double clear in show jumping, ending on a score of 65.1. Leslie and his mount placed third with a score of 68.5. Phillip Dutton and Connaught placed fourth with 72.4 and Heidi White and North Star were edged out to fifth place with 72.7. Mara Dean and Nicki Henly placed sixth with 76.1, closely followed by Karen O'Connor and Upstage with a score of 76.7 and a seventh place standing. Bruce Davidson Sr and Jam claimed eighth place with a score of 79.8.

In the CIC **, Phillip once again proved his competitive edge on Lucky Star with 51.6, well ahead of Leslie Law's bid on Another Garrison with a 59.2. On their heals were Mara Dean on Jos Ambition, coming in a very close third with 59.7. Elisa Wallace and Jackson were one of only two pairs that ended on their dressage score of 61.9, securing her fourth place standing. In fifth place, Emilee Libby in Cahir earned 63.3.
